Executive MBA

For managers for whom it is not possible to take time away from their professional career to attend a full-time personal development solution but wish to invest in a career development logic with their current employer, EGP-UPBS offers them the possibility of attending an Executive MBA: an advanced business management programme lasting one year, the central objective of which is to create and update skills and knowledge in the areas of business management.

This Executive MBA is also intended to meet the requirements of preparing managers for the new realities of internationalisation. Thus, a significant part of the classes is given in English by foreign teachers, predominantly from the Centre for Management Development (CMD) of the London Business School (LBS) and the Business Institute, units focussed on executive training from two of the most prestigious European business schools.

The programme covers 5 sequential models, starting with “module 0″ which aims to establish a minimum common knowledge base for participants coming from different training types (September), followed by the study of the key management tools (term 1), then onto mastering the essential concepts of business strategy design and implementation (term 2), and later, the enhancement of knowledge in various operational areas with the possibility of focussing on some of those areas, namely Finance, Marketing, Operations and Logistics and Organisational Behaviour and HR (term 3). To finish, the final module covers a week of training at a top European business school (in recent years, ESADE, IESE, IE).

Throughout the programme, there is still a set of disciplines and activities centred on the topic of the managers’ personal development.

The Executive MBA from EGP-UPBS was designed in such a way as to admit participants with diverse prior training and experience from various activity sectors, whilst having some management experience in common. It is assumed that the participants have already learned some basic management concepts, through their own experience or previous training. Despite this presumption, the aforementioned homogenisation module has been included.

The support of the business in this process is essential for the development of the programme, in particular, for the requirement to grant one work day and make the required workload in the business compatible with the work required at the School. It is also a determining point that, following the conclusion of the Executive MBA, the participant may obtain the means to develop his/her professional career with their current employer. In most cases, the business is also (co) financing the programme.
